A request for allocation of space was granted by Kalpana Desai especially the section that had natural light with windows from floor to ceiling overlooking the garden. A curatorial request for their offices was overruled by Desai putting the preservation of the collection first.

A separate room was dedicated for working with chemicals such as when spraying a varnish on paintings. This room was fitted with an exhaust chamber and filtration system meeting health and environmental specifications.
